We’re Greg and Kim, and Andersons Eco Retreat began as a personal dream — to build and share a space that felt miles away from the chaos of modern life, without being far from home.
After years of weekend getaways ourselves, we found it harder and harder to truly switch off and get away from the crowds. We longed for a place that was private, quiet, sustainable — and surrounded by nature. So, we built it.
What started as a simple off-grid cabin in the woods, has become a little sanctuary — not just for us, but for hundreds of couples, solo travelers, creatives, and nature lovers looking to unplug and reconnect with what matters.
Back in 1927, this land was home to one of the largest timber mills in the area. Six cabins once stood here—housing workers and their families, echoing with the rhythm of saws and stories. When the mill shut down in 1934, the site was abandoned, left to the trees and time.
In 2010, Kim and I stood on this forgotten ground and made a decision: to breathe life back into one of the last remaining cabins. Not as a replica, but as a respectful reconstruction—honoring its past while shaping a new future.
Over six years, with the help of family and a mobile Lucas mill, we hand-milled every piece of timber ourselves. Each beam, each board, carries the memory of that labor. And today, fifteen years on, the timber is still as beautiful as the day it was milled.
This retreat isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a story you step into—a quiet legacy we built with care, intention, and a deep respect for the land.
Our goal wasn’t just to recreate something special—it was to create a space where others could make memories of their own. The kind of place where time slows down, conversations deepen, and the quiet moments linger long after you’ve left.

"The quality, attention to detail and high standard blew me away, better than any hotel I’ve stayed in. Do yourself a favour and book this sanctuary and enjoy the bath in the forest and get cosy by the fire."
